Some Jersey Shore properties deserve to be reimagined from the ground up. This custom home on Seacrest Drive in Lavallette began with the demolition of the existing structure and the opportunity to create a completely new second home designed around its oceanfront setting.
Chap Construction managed the new home build at 3212 Seacrest Drive, working with PDR Designs and a team of experienced local trade partners to create a coastal home that makes the most of its location, views, indoor living areas, and outdoor spaces.
A New Custom Home Built for an Oceanfront Property
Building directly along the Jersey Shore presents a very different set of considerations from conventional inland construction. The layout, windows, decks, exterior materials, mechanical systems, storage, and finishes all need to work together while accounting for coastal conditions and the way the owners plan to use the home.
The Seacrest Drive project was created as a summer and second home, so the design needed to accommodate both everyday family use and the larger gatherings that are part of life at the shore.
The finished home features an open, bright interior with expansive windows and glass doors that draw attention toward the ocean. Large gathering spaces connect naturally with the kitchen and outdoor areas, giving the owners room to entertain without making the home feel oversized or disconnected.

A Custom Kitchen Designed for Gathering
The kitchen serves as one of the focal points of the home.
Castle Woodcraft provided the kitchen cabinetry and millwork, creating a bright coastal kitchen with generous cabinetry, a large center island, extensive countertop space, and storage designed around the needs of the homeowners.
The large island creates room for food preparation, casual seating, and entertaining, while pendant lighting adds definition to the workspace. The overall palette keeps the kitchen light and open while allowing the natural textures of the cabinetry, backsplash, countertops, and flooring to provide visual interest.
Appliances for the Seacrest Drive home were supplied by Appliance Gallery in Bayville, giving the project another strong local connection.
Custom Interior Details Throughout the Home
A custom home is defined as much by the smaller details as it is by the overall floor plan.
Throughout Seacrest Drive, the gallery highlights carefully finished trim, cabinetry, built-ins, stair details, fireplaces, lighting, flooring, and bathroom finishes. The neutral interior palette allows the coastal setting to remain part of the design instead of competing with it.
Built-in cabinetry surrounding the fireplace creates both storage and architectural interest in the main living area. Coffered ceiling details add dimension overhead, while large windows bring natural light into the space.
The staircase combines warm wood elements with crisp painted trim, creating continuity between floors without making the circulation areas feel purely functional.
Rob’s Painting and Powerwashing completed the painting for the project, helping create the clean finish seen throughout the completed interior.
Bathrooms Designed as Part of the Home
The bathrooms continue the same attention to materials and craftsmanship found throughout the living areas.
The photo gallery shows several distinct bathroom designs rather than repeating the same finishes from room to room. Tile selections, vanities, shower enclosures, fixtures, lighting, and wall treatments give individual spaces their own character while remaining consistent with the overall coastal design of the home.
Custom tile work is especially important in a shore home, where bathrooms often see heavy use during the summer season. Durable materials, good storage, quality plumbing fixtures, and layouts that can comfortably handle family and guests were all important considerations.
Storage Designed Into the Floor Plan
Storage can make the difference between a summer home that looks great in photographs and one that works well when a house is full of people.
Closets by Design provided closet solutions for the Seacrest Drive project. Dedicated storage helps keep bedrooms, hallways, and living areas organized while providing places for clothing, linens, seasonal items, and the gear that naturally comes with spending time near the beach.
The lower level also incorporates practical space into the design rather than treating it as an afterthought.
Epoxy Pro completed the epoxy flooring on the basement level, creating a durable finished surface well suited to a coastal property and the heavier use that lower-level storage and utility areas can receive.
Outdoor Living at the Jersey Shore
On an oceanfront lot, outdoor areas are part of the living space.
Custom Cut completed the decking for the home, helping create elevated outdoor spaces where the owners can enjoy the ocean setting, fresh air, and views along the Lavallette shoreline.
The finished home uses broad openings and large areas of glass to strengthen the connection between the interior and exterior. From inside the living areas, the ocean remains visually present. Step outside, and the decks provide additional room for relaxing and entertaining.
Artistic Pavers completed the paver work around the property, adding finished hardscape areas that complement the home’s exterior.
Windows That Make the Location Part of the Home
Andersen windows were used throughout the Seacrest Drive project.
For an oceanfront home, window placement does far more than provide natural light. Windows frame views, affect furniture placement, influence interior comfort, and help determine how connected a room feels to its surroundings.
The extensive glazing in this home allows natural light to move through the primary living spaces while making the coastal environment part of the interior experience.
Coordinating the Details of a Custom Jersey Shore Build
Projects of this scale involve far more than framing walls and selecting finishes.
